The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project Moot Court Competition
About
The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project (MBCLP) Moot Court Competition is the capstone event of a national civic-education initiative founded in 1999 at American University Washington College of Law. Named in honor of U.S. Supreme Court Justices Thurgood Marshall and William J. Brennan, Jr., the Project places trained law-student “Teaching Fellows” in public high schools to teach constitutional law and oral advocacy. Students then put those skills into practice by arguing an appellate-style problem in regional and national moot court competitions, building confidence, critical thinking, and civic engagement.
The Mission
Our goal is to prepare two committed Canyon Springs High School (CSHS) to compete at the 2026 Moot Court Competition in Washington, DC. The competition takes place March 6-7, 2026.
Help spark the excitement for the law and foster skills for the next generation of law students by volunteering a bit of your time to help instruct and support these amazing students. A full teaching guide and weekly rubric will be provided, so you your job is easy: review the problem, show up on time and ready to tackle the rubric, and have fun with it. That's it!
Courtesy of Snell & Wilmer, the two 2026 CSHS finalists and coach will have all expenses paid trip to DC for the national competition!
Volunteer instructors will receive discounts on membership and on tickets to the highly anticipated 2026 Annual Scholarships & Awards Gala.
